The alimentary tract is another name for the digestive tract. It begins with the oral cavity (mouth) to the larynx, stomach, small intestine, colon (large intestine), rectus and the anus (opening to the outside). This system grinds up food, digests it, absorbs fats, sugars, and proteins. Lastly, it removes water and stores waste until it is time to remove it.
