Yes. ATF 4 replaces ATF 3. It is a full synthetic fluid which replaces ATF 2 and 3 in all specs. They can be mixed
If the fluid is full of bubbles or is foamy, the transmission is probably overfilled with ATF. Other causes include using the wrong type of ATF or a plugged transmission vent. REF: http://www.aa1car.com/library/atf.htm
Castrol Transmax Z. Full synthetic.
If the ATF dipstick reads full, the transmission is likely burned out.
The first step is to contact the ATF and see if you can be approved to do it. Otherwise, it's highly illegal (in the U.S.) and you can face very stiff penalties for having a full auto gun without the ATF approval and tax stamp.

It depends on the car year and the type of transmission in the car. If it is a ZF6 HP 20 series, ordinary ATF will kill it on the spot. You need and must use ZF Lifeguard 6 or similar, such as Q8 Auto 16 ED which is a full synthetic ATF designed for transmissions with clutch packs. Note: Amsoil DO NOT make, or sell an ATF (even their full synthetic ATF) suitable for ZF 6 HP 20 series gearboxes!

You can blend synthetic ATF with conventional ATF.
