The more people there are, the more they tend to use energy derived from fossil fuel, and the faster atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide rise.

If there were only half a billion people on the earth, earth could probably absorb most of the green house gases emitted, or failing that the planet would have much more time to adapt. There are 14 times that many people on the planet, so change occurs 14 times as fast. People in China and India want to enjoy the same standard of living Americans enjoy, though Americans consume more energy per capita than any other industrial nation. The consequences for our planet will not be good.

Yes. An increase in population has affected global warming because the more people there are, the more demand there is for farm products, as well as for transport and electricity, which usually means burning more fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas). More people also need more food, which can lead to deforestation. Our sheep and cattle produce methane, a particularly potent greenhouse gas.

Global warming is not a population problem. Many scientists say that we need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050. Even if people completely stopped having babies, not enough people would die of old age to reduce emissions by 80% by 2050. If we produce energy using zero emission technology, we would stop man made global warming regardless of population.

A:

Overpopulation contributes to global warming by increasing the demand for electricity and consumer goods. There are now 7 billion people in the world. In the year 1800 the world population was 1 billion! Predictions suggest that we will be 8 billion before 2025, only a few years away!

An increase in population indirectly affects global warming because the more people there are, the more demand there is for farm products, as well as for transport and electricity, which usually means burning more fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas).

A:Global warming has to do with the population because of the average carbon dioxide the average family produces. The more familes there are, the more carbon dioxide there is, the more carbon dioxide there is, the greenhouse gases there are, the more greenhouse gases there are, the more heat.

The earth has undergone many natural cycles of warming and cooling, to which humans contributed nothing. Current climate change, however, is largely the result of greenhouse gas emissions as a byproduct of the consumption of fossil fuel, and to a lesser extent deforestation. The fewer people there were, the lower the greenhouse gas emission rate would be. Earth could more easily absorb the impact of half a billion people burning fossil fuel than of seven billion people doing it.

Lets just step back a moment.

What causes global warming to begin with?

The gas that comes from cars

The toxic fumes from factories

The smoke that comes from incinerated waste

Cow belches and waste (its not funny, its true.)

Fossil fueled electricity power plants

And more.

Now, more people come in. What does that leave us with?

More gas coming from more cars that the more people own.

More people need more things, which means more toxic factory fumes trying to make it.

More people throw more garbage out to be incinerated and cause more smoke

More people eat more meat, farmers breed more cows, and cows fart and poop more.

More people need more electricity, fossil fueled plants hurt the ozone layer more.

Hope you understand it better now.

Population growth is happening exponentially. There are now more than 7 billion people on the planet. Each person has a carbon footprint. Many people, especially in developing countries, want a higher standard of living. This may mean buying a car, a refrigerator, a television. All these use energy, mostly obtained by burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas). This burning adds to global warming.
