while the m16 has held out quite well in the deserts of Iraq and the jungles of Vietnam it does have some issues, for one, the stock is made out of plastic, which means that if you hit it to hard on something you run the risk of breaking it, second the internal pieces are quite complex, and even a bit of sand of mud can cause a jam so it is important to keep it clean always, and third even the metal pieces are made from mostly aluminum so i wouldn't recommend running it over with a car or dropping it from very high up, basically, dont treat it like crap and keep it clean and its a great weapon.
Why wouldn't they - the SA80 A2 is a good weapon, it has outstanding accuracy and good durability. The SA80 A1 didn't have good durability as it has many stoppages in rough conditions. In my opinion it is a good weapon, certainly better than the US's M16.
A M16 cost about $2000.00
