3.of or pertaining to a metrical system, as that of classical verse, based on the alternation of long and short, rather than accented and unaccented, syllables.

4.of or pertaining to the length of a spoken vowel or consonant." "Estimable according to quantity; quantitative."

Basically, they are the same. Quantitative is probably more commonly used.

Quantitative information is something that can be assigned a specific number.

ex: "It is 72.3 degrees outside."

ex: "This acid has a Ph of 2.5."

Qualitative information is descriptive, and cannot be assigned a number.

ex: "When chemical X was added, solution A turned blue."

ex: "This substance smells like rotten eggs."

Qualitative data are non-numeric whereas quantitative data are numeric. You could do calculation with quantitative data such as weight, height etc. With qualitative data such as types of flowers, kinds of flavors etc, you cannot do calculations.

The difference is found in the definitions for quantitative and qualitative.

Quantitative deals with quantity, therefore amounts, numbers such as:

--how much of a certain substance you have

--how tall something is

--how heavy a chemical is (molar mass)

These are things that can be recorded objectively.

Qualitative on the other hand deals with how something appears, such as:

--coloration

-- texture

These are a lot less precise measurements because they are subjective.

What is the difference between quantative and qualative data?

Quantitative data deals with numbers and data that are measurable. Qualitative data, meanwhile, deals with descriptions and data that are observable but not measurable.

Difference between qualitative and quantitative?

Qualitative and quantitative data are both 2 important types of data. Qualitative data is data based on observation and description. An easy way to remember this, Qualitative ---> QUALity. Examples of qualitative data are when you record colors, smells, textures, etc... Quantitative data is based on numerical values. An easy way to remember this, Quantitative ---> QUANTity. An example of quantitative data are any type of numerical values.

What is Qualitative and Qualitative data analysis?

Qualitative data is data that holds a lot of information. Quantitative data is data that comes in a large number.

Why are statistical procedures such as t-tests and analysis if variances not appropriate for use in qualitative studies?

Because a t-test is designed to measure the difference between means on variables that can be measured (interval data). For example, comparing the difference of height between males and females in centimetres. Qualitative studies are not interval data, but qualitative information is coded and analysed by frequencies - you are not comparing two normally distributed variables that can be measured on a continuous spectrum of measurement.

What is the differnce between quantitative data and qualitative data?

Quantitative data involves numbers, either measurable or countable values. Qualitative data involves something descriptive like color or shape.
