Well, the Orthodox Church tries to keep the liturgy, as close to how St. Peter celebrated it. We worship as Peter and the First Church worshipped, so you could say that the first Christian Church was Orthodox. Orthodox also believe in Transfiguration, which is a major issue between churches. Transfiguration is the belief that the bread and wine, are turned into the body and blood of Christ. This originates from the Last Supper in which Jesus said, "Take eat, this is my body which has been broken for you, unto remission of sins...Take drink, this is my blood which has been shed for you." Orthodox Christians also tend to follow strict fasts throughout the year as well. Instead of Easter, the Orthodox celebrate Pascha, which is basically the same thing. The reason fro this is that they follow the Julian, except for Christmas, instead of the Gregorian.

What is the difference between orthodox and byzantine churches?

Some byzantine churches are Orthodox. And some Orthodox churches are byzantine. Other than that, there's no difference. There are Roman Catholic churches which follow the byzantine form of worship, since they ceased being Orthodox in the 1400-1700s but retained their liturgical practices. And there are plenty of Orthodox parishes which have never followed byzantine norms for worship (Russian, for example, or in some places, Western Rite, especially when an entire Anglican or Roman Catholic congregation has become Orthodox). If you hear someone generically refer to "THE Byzantine Church," they are probably referring generically to the Orthodox Church, giving credence to its roots in Greek thought, culture, and language.

Difference between greek orthodox and Lutheran theology?

Nearly every doctrinal difference between the Lutheran and Eastern Orthodox Churches stem from two factors. 1. The Lutheran Church is a catholic, or western Church which shares its roots with the Roman Catholic Church. The forefathers of the modern Orthodox and the forefathers of the modern Roman Catholic and Lutheran Churches underwent the "Great Schism" in the first millennium over Trinitarian doctrine and 2. The Orthodox uphold Apostolic Tradition as a separate means of Church authority, while the Lutheran Church only accepts those tenets of Church Tradition which are upheld by the authority of the Canonical Scriptures. Both are liturgical, historic, sacramentarian Churches. During the Lutheran Reformation, there was much dialogue between the Greek Orthodox and Lutheran theologians as many of their grievances with Roman Catholicism are the same. There were some small, political and doctrinal issues which prevented any formal declaration of union or fellowship. Dialogue continues, and many of the differences between these two historic Churches are simply cultural.

The meaning of orthodox church?

The catholic church is sometimes considered the collection of churches that developed out of the Great Schism (namely, the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church). Although I have never heard someone use the term "catholic orthodox church," I would consider it to be referring to the Eastern Orthodox Christian religion.
