Information technology is a specific type of technology involving the processing, storage, and exchange of information.
Technology is a very broad field involving the knowledge of making any kind of tool, the making of things needed to make and use those tools, and many other related things. Even the making and using of early stone tools is a technology. Even our early prehuman ancestors had technologies and no modern human (even many thousands of years ago) has lived without having many technologies that they used every single day.
The word 'technology' can apply to anything - from a ball-point pen to a Boeing 777. Information technology usually just refers to computer-related objects etc.
