Film coat is only coating that prevents the bitter taste while taking the medicinea nd protects the tablet from microbial growth. and color change.

Enteric coat means (Enteric=Small intestine) this enteric coated tablet dissolved in only in small intestine. That means this type of coating prevents the drug release in other parts of the body. It will reacts with only small intestine fluids and get dissolved in 10mg concept. like 100mg tablet: 10mg>20mg>30mg>.......100mg complete dissolve.

In the drug itself, aspirin, no. The same formulation of aspirin is used.

Enteric coatings are found in many medications. These coatings basically "stomach-proof" the medication, preventing the medicine from reacting with the stomach. The coating is dissolved/removed once the medication has passed through the stomach and into the small intestine.

There are generally two reasons to enterically coat medications - either to protect the stomach from the medicine, or to prevent unwanted side effects.

In the case of aspirin, the coating protects the stomach lining, as aspirin has been known to cause or worsen stomach ulcers.

An example of unwanted side effects might be fish oil capsules; the regular capsules are processed in the stomach and produce "fish burps", while enterically coated fish oil capsules reduce/eliminate the fishy belching.

Yes, they are same. Actually enteric coating is aimed towards resisting the drug (aspirin in this case) from coming in contact with the hostile acidic envioronment of the stomach. So it can correctly be called as gastro-resistant tablet also.

Plain aspirin dissolves in the stomach. Enteric-coated aspirin dissolves in the small intestine, which prevents irritation of the stomach that can occur with plain aspirin.

Plain aspirin tablets are quite acidic and can have painful side effects for sensitive users. Soluble aspirin tablets quickly dissolve instead of resting on and damaging sensitive organs.
