Kinesiology, derived from the Greek words kinesis (movement) and kinein (to move), also known as human kinetics, is the science of human movement. It is a discipline that focuses on Physical Activity.

Applied Physiology means using the knowledge of Physiology ( The Study of interactions in the nature [i.e. environment inside and outside the body] with respect to their effect on human life) in day to day life. Applied Physiology teaches us what to eat, how much to eat, when to eat and how to eat also. Applied Physiology teaches about how much to sleep, when to sleep, when to defecate, when and how to urinate and so on. Applied Physiology instructs us about what clothes to wear and how they influence our life. Applied Physiology teaches which exercise, how much exercise and when and how to take and its benefits or side effects on body and mind. Applied Physiology tells us about how much water to drink and the effects of cold and warm water! It also tells us about effects of cold bath, warm bath, sponging jakuzee etc. Applied Physiology teaches us about yoga principles and their judicious use tobenefit us. Applied Physiology tells us about Sun Light its effects in general and benefits with respect to our health. Applied Physiology also guides us about the effects of space, climate, temperature, pressure, winds, humidity, aging, other conditions such pregnancy and the care to be taken for better health. Applied Physiology also informs about the effects of fragrance, colors, music, dance, masssage and so on on life. This perspective is extemely important to avoid getting carried away by the misconception "Applied is synonymous with Clinical". Clinical Physiology is small aspect of Applied Physiology. In Clinical Physiology also there is application of the knowledge of Physiology in diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutics. Applied Physiology can help us prevent diseases through the knowledge of immunity. The Applied Physiology seeks to know the effects of soil status, chemical and organic fertilizers, pesticide and such factors on crop and its effects on the human life. Applied Physiology guides about the effects of various types of "human -human", "human - animal" and "human - plant" interactions so that we can imporve upon socialization, pets and home gardening also. The question is; do we have objective state of mind to study Physiology and apply it? Applied Physiology is nothing else but Physiology studied with objective frame ofmind and applying this knowledge in every sphere so as to blossom the individual and universal life! You can refer the text books of Physiology and Applied Physiology on the basis of this understanding of Physiology and Applied Physiology. One of the excellant examples of Appled Physiology is "Understanding and Management of Stress"!
