Basically ,LED stands for Light Emitting Diode and LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. LCD TV use fluorescent lights while LED TV use those light emitting diodes. The fluorescent lights in an LCD TV are always behind the screen. On an LED TV, the light emitting diodes can be placed either behind the screen or around its edges. An LCD, meaning liquid crystal display, TV produces a colored image by filtering white light. Whereas led TV's, are backlit producing a more vibrant color and are thinner. If you are looking for a bright picture with no glare, and uses electricity but don't mind some dull pictures at night then an LCD is a better fit and on the whole a cheaper option, but LED TV's are thin and produce vibrant colors however give off more heat and more noise too.
