  1. CRT (cathrode ray tube) is used in very old Computer Monitors and televisions. LCD (liquid crystal display) is used for flat screens
  2. CRT are no energy efficient,LCD are energy efficient
  3. LCD - compact , portable, light weighted, CRT- weighted, and large in size as compared to LCD
  4. LCD- uses liquid crystals to form the images, CRT- uses a cathode ray tube or electron gun to form the images

LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TVs use the light modulating properties of liquid crystals to give off the image. Plasma TVs use special gases produced by certain cells to create the image, but since it uses a gas, plasma TVs get really hot very fast

Most recognizable is size and weight. A 19" CRT will weigh about 30 lbs and is about 18" wide, 20" tall and 14" deep. A 19" LCD will weigh about 5 lbs, 17" wide, 19" tall and 2" deep.

The resolution is better on an LCD, and a LCD uses much less power, therefore is much cooler.

I believe you mean LCD and CRT's? Anyways, on a very basic explanation, CRT's are simply:

CRT's

- In the back there is a device used for shooting electrons at a phosphor-coated screen which produces the image you see. These beams are moved around on the screen by an internal or external device (electrostatic deflection plate). This process is repeated a number of times per second in order to keep up with the motion of the pictures shown.

-For more in-depth into how that actually works with the electrons you need to understand one thing. The only reason you see what you do on the screen is because a charged electron striking a phosphor produces a certain amount of light depending on how much of a charge it has. These different charges are what give us brightness and contrast. Using different phosphors on the tube gives us our many different colors. It also has to do with the energy that is released by the electrons, but unless you are trying to learn Quantum theory, which I am going to assume not since you are asking the difference between the two tv types and not about Quantum theory itself, you don't really need to know all this...

LCD's

-They are in fact similar to CRT's in the sense that they are both only using charged electrons in order to produce an image, but LCD's have a different way of doing so.

- In an LCD for example, aka Liquid Crystal Display, which has crystals in a fluid (which I can't seem to find the name of) and are electronically charged in order to create the different colors.

The difference between LCD and CRT TVs is in what they have to offer. CRT TVs are heavy and bulky while LCDs are slim and conserve energy. Also, since LCDs contain no phosphors, they do not suffer from "image burn", which was sometimes a problem with CRTs.

Liquid Crystals do not actually produce light, so they require a backlight behind the liquid crystal layer. Some backlights are flourescent, and some are Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs).

The CRT monitor. These are heavy, use a lot of desk space and electricity. It is the oldest technology used by monitors and is based on the cathode ray tube technology that was developed for television. Monitors are made with better parts which give a much higher display resolution and picture sharpness than a television. This type of monitor is no longer popular.

The LCD monitor. Often called a Flat panel display. It is a newer technology than CRT. LCD monitors use much less desk space, are lightweight and use less electricity than CRT. This type of screen has been used for many years in the screens of laptop and notebook computers. It is also used for screens in every mobile phone, and many handheld technologies. It can produce a very high quality and stable display of graphics and text.

CRT TVs are different from LCD TVs in the way the picture is build up on the screen. Electrons are being released with highspeed in CRT TVs to build up the picture while in LCD TVs liquid crystals make up the picture.

lcds are smallerand CRTs are larger in shape

crts areprone to flickerand LCDs are free from flicker.because they do not rely on a scaning electron beam

Yes. As long as the output is VGA. There is no difference in the standard between CRT and LCD.

What are the two differences between CRT monitor and a LCD monitor?

CRT monitors use a beam of electrons to form the picture - LCD's use microscopic pixels. CRT's need large amounts of electricity to form the picture - LCD's work with low voltages.

CRT is cheaper than LED.

What are the good things about the crt monitor?

At this point, I would say that a CRT had no advantages over a LCD monitor. The LCD is probably cheaper, it takes up less space, is easier on the eyes, and provides better revolutions.

A CRT monitor yields better quality than an LCD monitor does?

As LCD display technology improves, it now beats CRT for clarity and image stability. CRT based computer monitors are no longer mass produced and existing CRT monitors are usually several years old. As they age, the image becomes softer so there will be few CRT displays that can compare with a modern LCD screen.
