A novel is a book-length fictional manuscript whose pages when printed and bound inside a cover becomes a book. Just being fictional and bound isn't enough -- collections of short stories, novellas, and other fictional texts can be bound, but they don't thereby become a novel.

A book consists of printed sheets that can be made of almost any material (paper, parchment, fiberboard etc.) that is fastened/bound together on one side and usually protected by some type of covering. Although these are often bound, again, binding isn't essential. For example, books can be electronic with scanned images. The lack of binding doesn't mean that it isn't a book. Additionally, a book -- in common usage -- tends to have a copyright and be the product of a publisher. One could debate this aspect (e.g., is an unpublished diary a book?) In short, a novel is usually a book, but a book isn't necessarily a novel. The terms aren't interchangeable. Just remember that novel normally refers only to works of fiction. If the book isn't fiction, it isn't a novel. (There is a subgenre of nonfiction sometimes called a "nonfictional novel"; the first well-known example of this is Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood".)

Book refers to the physical attributes of a thing. It is made of paper, wood, involves ink and pages attached to a spine by glue. A novel refers to the structure of the intellectual content of a book.

The difference between a book and a novel is that a novel refers to a fictional manuscript that represents some character and action whereas a book is anything printed on pages and bound within some cover.

A script is the written text that outlines the entire story, including dialogue, stage directions, and scene descriptions. Dialogue, on the other hand, specifically refers to the spoken words exchanged between characters in a script or during a performance. In short, dialogue is a component of a script, which is the full written document.

A book is a bound volume containing a long story or novel, or short stories if fiction, or narrative information if non-fiction. A script is the written form of a play for people to preform. A script may be published in a book.

In musical theatre, the book is the same as the script - all the words that are to be spoken on stage. Lyrics are the words that are to be sung on stage. So you see credits like "Book and Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II"

Writing a script is very different from writing a short story. A script is almost all dialogue and is meant to supply conversation and other utterances for actors in a movie. A few lines of narrative throughout the script may indicate details of the story, but these sections are not meant to be read in the final product. Characterization, setting, description and suspense are all supplied by visuals.

A short story, however, has no visuals. The author must use his writing skills to bring characters to life, to create a plot that unfolds in a believable way, to establish a setting, to conjure up suspense, and to supply rich description that captures the reader's imagination. Just as Shakespeare's plays were not intended to be read, scripts are almost never written as reading material.
