not really, the difference in cams is more like a van versus a camaro. if you just want it to run, any cam will do, but if you want it to haul a$$, gotta go aftermarket... crane cams is good. there is a difference between them, though they interchange, if you put a cam from a "k" code 350 5.7 in an old carbureted 350 pre 1987 , the mechanical fuel pump will not function hence there is no fuel pump lobe on those cams. and you will have to use a electric fuel pump.
