Wester riding is less discplined and more free. You can more likely or not tack up your horse and just ride on western without so much training. English is more formal and disciplined. If you want to look fancy riding a horse you usually ride English. Wester is used more in rodeos.

western takes just as much disapline and pose as English i know i ride and the saddles and other tack are way different and so are the events

Western riders typically use one hand, the saddle is much heavier, the saddle has a saddle horn, and the rider uses very loose reins.... and the horse usually uses neck reining... where in English it is the opposite... 2 hand riding, saddle is light, no saddle horn, tight reins, and direct reining.

Saddle seat is a type of English riding that involves a high-stepping horse, and the rider has his/her legs farther out in front than in most English saddles. Western is a type of riding where the saddle has a horn, and is deeper and more secure than an English saddle. Western riders do not jump.

Is it possible for a beginner horseback rider to be an English rider?

Yes it is very possible! In fact, I am an English rider myself and that is how I started. It is highly recommended by experts. But, if you're more interested in riding for fun, go western. If you are interested in shows/cross country/ dressage then go English. The only riding difference is that you have a different posture in the styles. In English, you hold the reins with two hands. In western, just one.
