Symposium is a formal meeting where experts in a particular field present their views on a topic or issue. Now the presenters are usually world-renowned experts/speakers. However a panel discussion is less formal then symposium and is sometimes held in front of an audience. They involve a group of people who discussion certain issues or topics

The pane discussion is held to exchange ideas and expression agreement and disagreement on points of mutual interests. The moderator guides the whole discussion and defines differences. This discussion may or may not have a genera audience.
