People have different opinions on this topic, but my opinion is that at the moment man has a bad relationship with the environment. There is a worldwide use of earths resources which is unsustainable because of the damage caused by pollution and the fact that the resources will run out one day. The resource use is driven by consumers who have a want or need for goods, services, fuel, electricity, etc. Put simply if we don't look after earth, it might not look after us, especially in the future. Our quality of life right now could be better too - imagine a city with almost zero pollution. We have to find ways of generating energy that are non-polluting. Go to sciencedirect.com and type/copy: 'man−nature relationship and environmental ethics' in the quick search box. The abstract from the article sums it up really well :)
