They are about the size of a quarter (26.5 mm) , one dollar denomination, and are made of 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese, and 2% nickel that gives a goldish appearance. I think you are referring to the apparently false legend that John Tyler was playing marbles with his grandchildren when he was notified that the death of Harrison had made him president.
When he decided to run for President, he had just lost his bid for re-election to the US Senate. Before he was a senator, he made his living as a lawyer. He also served as an officer during the Civil War, starting as a second lieutenant and leaving as a brigadier general.
The model Benjamin 137 was made between 1946-1985. But you will need the Serial No to tell the exact date. In 1957 Benjamin used the serial number to establish the date.
