There is no specific cause for psoriasis, but there are multiple triggers like an infection or stress that can cause psoriasis to appear. It is thought that psoriasis is a genetic disease, so a person can inherit it from its ancestors. However, this is not necessarily true for all psoriasis sufferers. For every person that has psoriasis, the triggers are different: the doctor will give you multiple blood tests to take and talk to you to see if stress affected your condition.

In my case, I inherited the disease from my grandmother, it activated when I was 13 due to stress and a streptococcus infection. My advice is that if you have psoriasis and children, try to talk to them all the time about avoiding stress and get them to doctor every time they are sick.

We don't know what causes psoriasis. It is thought to be an autoimmune disease, and that is has a genetic component. There is also another school of thought that it is a dermal malady that results spontaneously when skin cells grow and reproduce excessively. Follow the link below to the Wikipedia article on this medical condition to read more about it. Answer: Psoriasis is driven by the immune system, especially involving a type of white blood cell called a T cell. Normally, T cells help protect the body against infection and disease. T cells help create scabs over wounds. In the case of psoriasis, T cells are put into action by mistake and become so active that they trigger other immune responses, which lead to inflammation and to rapid turnover of skin cells. Most recently, the natural or innate immune system has been found to be highly implicated. Non-specific natural responses of the skin immune system, and virtually every subsystem of that, are activated in psoriasis. Epidermal cells up on the surface of the skin, forming itchy patches or plaques. The first outbreak of psoriasis is sometimes triggered by emotional or mental stress or physical skin injury, but heredity is a major factor as well. In about one-third of the cases, there is a family history of psoriasis. Researchers have studied a large number of families affected by psoriasis and identified genes linked to the disease. (Genes govern every bodily function and determine the inherited traits passed from parent to child.) People with psoriasis may notice that there are times when their skin worsens, then improves. Conditions that may cause flareups include infections, stress, and changes in climate that dry the skin. Also, certain medicines, including Lithium salt and beta blockers, which are prescribed for high blood pressure, may trigger an outbreak or worsen the disease. Other autoimmune diseases such as HIV/AIDS may significantly worsen the symptoms of psoriasis. Alcohol consumption and obesity may also worsen the condition.

Psoriasis is caused when a person has to much stress, has relatives with the skin condition, or when a person smokes. This causes a lack of Vitamin D causing your white blood cells to reproduce to quikly therefor making the extra ones to rise to your skin.

Psoriasis is caused by blockage of skin with wind, damp, heat and pathogen. The symptoms are usually red papules that occur on the skin of the scalp, trunk and extensor aspect of limbs. The papules gradually expand and merge into patches or plaques with thick silver scales on the surface. The patches or plaques are of irregular shape, some take the shapes of map or island, yet some are smaller but more, with the appearance of starry sky and with the scales shedding off layer after layer. A layer of red film can be seen by scraping off the scales gently, and small hemorrhage dots can be seen by scraping off the red films.

How does psoriasis affect a tattoo?

Psoriasis is an immune system disorder that has no cure, but can be treated with topical creams, injections and pills. Some people with psoriasis develop new lesions when their skin gets cut (shaving etc.). Since tattoos break the skin it is possible for someone who has psoriasis to develop lesions on or around their tattoo. Each person is different and they need to use their own judgement. If you have psoriasis you can get a tattoo, but be prepared for the outcome. Your tattoo could stay clear until the day you die or it could get covered by psoriasis.
