There are way too many causes (and therefore symptoms) to list here. But, in general, non-infectious causes includes allergy, poisoning, metabolic disorders, genetic disorders and congenital disorders. Symptoms will ofcourse depend on the causative, which organ system(s) are involved, dosage and time of exposure.

Although this is correct, I think the person wanted a general cause.

2 main general causes are inherited diseases, such as Down's syndrome, and environmental disease, such as lung cancer.
