Sweating is way for your body to cool itself. Water is found everywhere in your body; in every organ and tissue. Your body trys to maintain a constant temperature of 96.6 degrees. When your internal temp begins to rise, sweat glands relax and open up allowing water (primarily salt based) to flow to the surface of your skin. This cools you off. When you run, for instance, you increase your internal temp because your muscles are working so hard, they create heat. If you sweat too much, your body can loose all it's water. This is called heat stroke. That's why it's very important to drink a lot of water when you sweat, even if you don't think you need it. When your body is deprived of water, cells begin to die and your internal organs can't function properly. A fever can cause you to sweat because it raises your temperature. You can even sweat while taking a hot shower.
