Best Answer

If I was revising for a Science test, then I would:

  1. Make a note of all the things I'm unsure of
  2. Revise those small sections
  3. Write the answers down in short bites a notebook, e.g "Seawater is a mixture"
  4. Re-read over the notes before and on the day of the test.

What is the best way of revising?

The best ways of revising is either buying a good revision book or going on good revision sites on the internet. The best revision website for all ages is Bitesize as it is for KS1, KS2, KS3, GCSE, Scottish Highers. Bitesize has information for all subjects and topics. When you revise you should read all information given and write it down on a piece of paper. When you are given information not all of it is always important information, when you write down the important information it is called taking notes. If you are interested in languages you should not go on translation websites as most of them tell wrong translations, even "Google translation" can tell wrong translations. One of the best books to buy for revising is "Letts". Letts books are around £5.00 each. If you want to know a good History website one is "History on the net". Even if you don't have your GCSE's soon it is still important to revise. You should aim to revise for at least half an hour a day but it better to revise for an hour or more. I hope all this information has helped you!

For revising, it can be helpful to read your work aloud. Hearing yourself may help highlight the changes you need to make. Having another person edit your work or read through it and offer suggestions is also helpful. Strategies for studying include: * make flash cards * break up material into small sections, memorize and move on. Then review each secton frequently. * highlight key concepts and concentrate on those. * summarize information * Phrases like the ones listed below will help you deterimine main ideas and important concepts within text. to summarize, most importantly, etc.

Here are some of the top techniques:

  • Make a study schedule - it's best to study for shorter periods, like 15-20 minutes at a time with a short 5 minute break between (where you get up and stretch or get a snack or use the restroom)
  • Alternate study subjects instead of doing all one subject at once - this keeps your brain more interested and keeps you from getting so bored
  • Exercise - even a 30-minute walk or jog after your studies will wake your brain up and make you more alert
  • Start in the morning when you're most alert - don't stay up all night when you're trying to study and revise, but get enough sleep and hit the books first thing in the morning
  • Lose the distractions - treat your studies like a job. You wouldn't go to work and stand around texting or chatting or Surfing the internet, so don't do that while you're supposed to be studying. Shut off the cellphone, the internet, the Video Games, the loud music, and anything else that might distract you
  • Spice up your revision - get out the colored pencils and markers and draw some lively charts and graphs. You can even write different facts in different colors to help you remember them better
  • Make summary notes - instead of trying to reread the textbooks, make good notes (see the link below for more help on that, too) and study them instead
  • Use past papers - ask your teacher for as many copies of past papers as you think you can study, and use those for revision. Just knowing what sort of question the teacher usually asks can help you, and some of the questions on your own exams might be similar
  • Use Study Decks - see the link below for making one
  • Get some help - enlist family and friends to help you study, even if it's just giving you enough peace and quiet to finish your work

Some good revision techniques that I personally use is to always have a full stomach and to not be hanging for food, this can cause you to not concentrate fully. Don't spend too long in one go. Take breaks here and there. Drink water, it will help your brain function better in order to think better for revision. And also, make sure your sleeping correctly, don't spend hours on end revising everything! :)
