For an average mid-range DESKTOP:
$500 (Not including Monitor, mouse and keyboard)
HP Pavilion with Intel i3
For and average mid-range LAPTOP:
$600 (Full mobile package)

Both these computers have about equal specs.
The cheapest, or the ones on sale would be less than $2000. But if they weren't on sale, the ones that are a higher standard or better technology would probably be around $3000 for sure. The average of an Apple Mac is pretty expensive and I don't think they ever change their price.
