Mistakes or alterations can be simply and easily made on an electronic spreadsheet. Additionally, an electronic spreadsheet can be HUGE, whereas a manual one is restricted by paper size.

There are a huge amount of differences between a paper-based spreadsheet and an electronic one. Here are just some. On an ordinary paper-based spreadsheet, you have to do all your calculations manually. If you have to fix and error, it may mean doing the whole spreadsheet out again. An electronic spreadsheet does the calculations automatically. It also allows you to cange figures easily and will automatically recalculate based on the new figures. It also has many built-in functions, to do specialised calculations, that can be used very simply. It will do the calculations once you give it the necessary figures and you do not have to worry about how the calculations is actually performed. On a paper-based spreadsheet you would need to know how to do all those kinds of calculations yourself and for complex ones you are more likely to make a mistake. So an electronic spreadsheet is faster, more efficient and gives you a very wide range of things that you can do, that you can't with an ordinary paper-based spreadsheet.

Using an electronic spreadsheet gives you many more options:

you can edit easily if you make a mistake

easily modify row/column width by dragging at any time

perform automated calculations. for example, you can tell the software to add all the items in a column and display their sum at the bottom of the column. If you make any modification to the items, the sum at the bottom will automatically change accordingly. You're not limited to just summing, you can tell it to automatically perform most simple to most complex mathematical calculations on the data you've entered

add automatically generated charts, illustrations, histograms, etc. you just enter the data and tell the software to generate charts, etc. based on the data. you choose the style of the chart and have complete control over how it looks. you can choose the most simple one or go for fancy 3-d ones.

store as much data as you want. tens of thousands of rows and columns

better manage your work. you can easily organize your work into a hierarchy of folders, different files inside folders and different spreadsheets inside files.

easy backup. just copy the file/folder to a dvd, hdd, or multiple places to backup.

formatting of data. you can choose from hundreds of text styles, sizes, colors, even fancy stylized text individually for everything you enter.

work smarter with copy and paste. suppose you enter 100 rows of data in a spreadsheet and the same data is also to be used in another spreadsheet, you don't need to enter it again, just copy and paste it there.

add graphics/pictures/logos etc. to make your spreadsheet look more interesting.

there are a LOT of other advantages too.

In the case of power loss (or similar) the manual spreadsheet may still be easily accessed for reference, modification, etc.

Low-tech. has SOME advantages... for the time being.

it will run calculations for you and work out all the maths. if you create a spreadsheet, and do it right, then as long as you fill it in correctly, the figures will be correct. since you only create it once, it greatly reduces the risk of human error

an electronic spreadsheet automatically recalculates figures when you can change numbers in a cell

Biggest advantage is instant calculation of totals and functions.

It is more accurate n time saving . one can easily identify the mistakes made and correct without much hustle and lots of untidy work

They are two ways of referring to the same thing. A program is on a computer, which is electronic, so a spreadsheet on a computer could be referred to in either way you've specified.

Why electronic spreadsheet are larger than manual spreadsheet?

Because it gives much more room for people to create much larger spreadsheets that would take too much paper. That is one of the major advantages of an electronic spreadsheet. You can manipulate much larger amounts of data on an electronic spreadsheet. This makes them far more useful. There is so much that can be done on a large electronic spreadsheet that would be very difficult to do on a paper-based one.
