It's not a scam, and it's really fun. I'm going to do it this year and am totally looking forward to it. You are judged 30% on your introduction, 30% on your interview (private), 30% on formal wear, and 10% on community involvement (just donate a teddy bear or book). There's no swimsuit competition, no excessive makeup, "world peace, or talents (talents are optional). Its just a fun experience with intelligent girls and lots of new opportunities!! The winner in each age group (5 age groups) receives $1,000, a trophy, roses, a crown, and an all-expenses-paid trip to nationals! Plus, the winner of each optional contest (actress, talent, casual wear, photogenic, spokesmodel, etc.) receives $250. So, if you were interested in trying a pageant, this is the perfect one. Most of the girls there are first-timers (like myself), and it's a popular, reputable organization.
One more thing:The pageant fee is $440, and you have to buy a gown, interview outfit, and a production number outfit, so you should probably only participate if you are serious about it and dedicated to it.
The National American Miss pageant is not a scam, though it can be costly and participants are encouraged to earn the money to pay them.
When you are in the pageant, they send you a series of magazines that have all the information. In Magazine 3, there is a form where you can recommend friends or girls that you feel would qualify.

Yes. I have been in the pageant and I love that it is not like any other pageant. National American Miss is not a scam, it is definitely different from the other pageants. You don't wear swimsuits, except to have fun at the hotel pool. There is no required Talent, it has lower cost, focus on fun, no makeup until you are a teenager, but while it is not like the other pageants, it is still very much a valid pageant. More information: Pageantry Magazine says that National American Miss has grown to now be the most attended pageant in America. National American Miss gives out so much stuff that they actually give out a free new car as a door prize among the girls that are there. That's hot! They have events in all of these locations, contracted with big name event places and hotels. www.namiss.com/findyourstate They have all of the winners names listed, in tons of categories, for tons of years.
The National American Miss Alabama Pageant is ideal for beginners and has numerous age divisions.
National American Miss is one of the largest reputable Pageant Organizations in the United States. Their Mission Statement is: The National American Miss Pageant is dedicated to celebrating America's greatness and encouraging its future leaders. Each year, the pageant awards thousands of dollars in scholarships and prizes to recognize and assist the development of young women nationwide. The National American Miss Pageant is for "Today's Girl and Tomorrow's Leaders." The pageant programs is based on inner beauty, as well as poise, presentation, and offers an "All American Spirit" of fun for family and friends. Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confident, volunteer work, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition, and setting and achieving personal goals. The pageant seeks to recognize the accomplishments of each girl while encouraging her to set goals for the future. My daughter was crowned Miss New Jersey Princess Queen in August of 2007. She has made many appearances throughout the state of New Jersey during her reign and has volunteered her time for many good causes. This experience has been one of the best experiences of her life. I HIGHLY recommend it for any young girl.
The first Miss America pageant was held in the 1920s in Atlantic City. The winner of the very first Miss America pageant was Margaret Gormen from Washington D.C.
I THINK IT DEPENDS ON their own style or creatiity in joining the pageant... do your best and judge will give u a highest percentage...
At the 2014 open call it was stated by the spokeswoman that only 50% of open call attendees will receive a call back for the National American Miss Pageant in each state. This is because if they were to invite every girl that attended an open call than the pageant would last for a week or more. An open call is held in various cities in each state.
The Miss America pageant began in 1921.
This changes from year to year. Miss Pennsylvania at the 2015 Miss America pageant was Amanda Smith. The pageant was held on September 14, 2014.
