Well, in every case that I've seen peer pressure it had bad effects. So let's say someone is really good, listens in school does their homework, Then someone who is the opposite of that comes along and teases them they are pressured to do wrong. So that is really bad. But, in really rare cases ( I mean really rare) Someone who is good makes someone who is bad to be pressured to do good. Now that is a positive effect. In conclusion, it can be either way. It depends on what you are talking about. I hope I helped. Well, in every case that I've seen peer pressure it had bad effects. Peers are the colleagues or friends of your teen whom he/she meets everyday. There are some similarities in their ways of thinking and behavior which brings the teens close to their peers. The teens usually spend more time with their peers than they do with their parents. Thus, it is quite possible that their peers will have an effect on them. Peer pressure in teenagers is sometimes positive and constructive while sometimes, it is negative or destructive.

Whether peer pressure in teenagers will be positive or negative would entirely depend on how his peers and friends are. If your teen stays in the company of good, sincere kids from educated families he can learn a lot from them This will improve his personality and overall behavior. He acquires the ability to take correct decisions himself. He will be able to succeed in achieving his set goals and targets. Healthy competition among peers can help you enhance the academic as well as extra curriculum performance of teen.

However, if the peer pressure in teenagers is negative, then it can severely hamper the progress of your teen. Living in bad company can force the teens to get under the pressure or influence of bad habits such as drinking, teen smoking and drugs. There have been many instances where kids get spoiled and commit the biggest mistakes of their lives due to negative peer pressure in teenagers. So, understanding what the consequences of one's actions is very essential to avoid falling into such a mess

Teenagers must learn to exercise self control and develop the ability to say "NO" when asked to drink alcohol or smoke a cigarette for the first time as it is necessary to avoid negative peer pressure

Parents can play an important role in bringing their teens out of the peer pressure.

children need unconditional love and trust from their parents to get out of negative peer groups. Parents can teach children some positive values like assertiveness, independence and individuality. They must make children understand the power of saying "No" at the right time.

While love is essential to make your child understand that you really care for them, you can't be complacent to let them be totally free. Imposing necessary restrictions since childhood and training them to follow it is a very good discipline that parents must develop in their children. The safest and most adequate method to avoid children from negative peer pressure is a very lovable and supportive family. If the child is getting all love, care, attention and his needs are met adequately in the family, he will certainly be able to grow up into a responsible adult and will understand the value of living a balanced life and avoiding negative peer pressure.

Negative, because eg.

If you have a boyfriend and your "friends" pressure you into doing sexual things and you don't want to do it then that is a negative effect :)
