NucleonsNucleons are subatomic particles, such as protons and neutrons, that exist in the nuclei (plural of nucleus) of atoms. Though a proton or neutron can exist outside the nucleus of an atom (though the neutron is unstable and will decay), either particle is considered a nucleon when we refer to them as the constituent parts of an atomic nucleus.
Protons and neutrons reside in the NUCLEUS and are thus NUCLEONS.

The probability of an electron being within a nucleus is quite small, so it is not considered a nucleon.

NucleonThe term nucleon is applied to either of the constituent components of the nucleus of an atom. That means that either a protonor a neutron could be a nucleon when they are part of an atomic nucleus. It's really that simple. Further, the number of nucleons in the nucleus of any atom is the number of protons and neutrons in the nucleus. It's the mass number of the atom, and that's because almost all of the mass of any atom is in the nucleus. Use the links below for more information.

Nucleons are found in the nucleus of an atom. Protons and neutrons, which comprise that atomic nucleus, can be referenced using an "umbrella term" when they are spoken of as the building blocks of an atomic nucleus. That term, nucleon, is the one we see used. See the related question, which is linked below.

Which particles are found in the nucleus of the atom?

They're called nucleons. The two types of nucleons are protons and neutrons. Protons are positively charged nucleons and determine, in an atom, what element that atom is. Neutrons have no charge and just supposedly add mass to an atom.

What is the mass number of an atom that contains?

Particles is found in the nucleus of an atom?

Particles found in the nucleus of an atom are named as nucleons. There are mainly two type of nucleons. They are protons and neutrons. Protons are having positive charge but neutron is chargeless. To keep these nucleons together a particle known as pi mesons are exchanged between the nucleons.

What are nucleons in the nucleus?

Nucleons are particles are are included in the nucleus of an atom. These include neutrons and protons (and their anti-matter pairs).

Where is the nucleon located in an atom?

In the nucleus of the atom. The protons and neutrons of an atom are together collectively known as nucleons.

What is a generic name for the subatomic particles in the nucleus of an atom?

nucleons

What is nucleus of an atom?

The nucleus is the very dense region consisting of nucleons (protons and neutrons) at the center of an atom.

What is a proton or neutron as a component of the centre of an atom?

They are collectively known as nucleons, and together, all of them form the nucleus of an atom.

What does the atomic mass number of an atom tell you about the atom?

The mass number of an atom is equal to the sum of its number of protons and neutrons, simply, nucleons.
