I have looked all over the legal system in Ohio for this answer, and there is no law regulating an age limit, only that the child's mentality, and responsibility should be acceptable.. Under 7 can not be left alone, however after that there is no law. There was acceptable limits to this.

Age 7- Can not be left alone

Age 8-11 two hours

Age 12-14 up to three hours

age 14-17 up to 24 hours

Of course should anything go wrong it will be up to the authoritities if charges should be file. A contact should always be left with the children in case of emergency.

***New person adding to this with corrections***

Actually it does not imply a 7 year old cannot be left alone. Common sense tells you otherwise! To be left alone the child has to be 10 years old. To babysit, however, is age 11 at parent's discretion. If you go to your local Red Cross, they provide children with a 6.5 hour class for $30.00 on how to babysit. This is also a wonderful tactic to use for when they decide to babysit to raise their own money. It teaches them how to take control of situations, how to treat the other children, and how to be responsible. Whomever wrote that above my answer is using their own guess along with common sense. Only problem is, it's not the correct answer.

There is no law set in Ohio regarding the age. Most experts believe a 13 year old can be left at home for a few hours during the day. The child must be safe, feel safe and know how to handle an emergency situation.

There is no particular age set, as long as the parent feels that the child is responsible and capable of being home alone. A responsible age would seems to be between 11 - 13

What is Ohio's law to leave a child alone?

From my understanding, a parent can leave their child or children home alone at any age, as long as they think they are mature enough to handle it. Basically, there is not a law in Ohio about leaving a child alone. However, in the instance that something was to happen while the child or children were alone, then something would be done legally.
