There are many varieties of juniper, providing a wide range of mature size, foliage type and colour, etc. They are all low-water and require very little care. They will tolerate some shade. When using the juniper bush in a flower bed, I would recommend planting it off-centre: to one edge of the bed. Try using a mixed planting in the bed, i.e., a mix of perennials and/or annuals, ornamental grasses and a small shrub or two.
