An athiest would say yes Anyone else would say no Alternative Answer Most atheists are humanists; humanists generally try and chose "good" decisions from rationality. So from that point of view, Atheism certainly can be described as good.

Atheistic thought allows for a view of the universe that does not rely on a unexplainable supernatural being. Being atheists allows us to see the world as it is. Let's look at an example. Your best friend, who has never done anything that god might consider evil is hit by a car. As a religious person, it would beg the question: "Why did god decide it was time for my friend to die. What is god's plan concerning my friend's death." Atheists can accept it as an outcome of random chance, that no omnipresent, omnipotent being could have stopped it simply by being.

Atheism allows for rational moral thought, and does not require submission to a moral document written thousands of years ago. One of the ten commandments says, "Thou shalt not lie." In what instance would it be okay to lie? A strict Christian might say, "Never." An atheist would think before ing and quickly realize that it is okay to lie if, for instance, you are a medic in the military. US Army medics are taught to lie to patients who are at risk of going into shock. In this instance, it is obvious to most of us that it is OKAY to lie in this situation. This is called discretion. It is a normal thought process that rational people go through when having to make a decision about something.

Critical thinking. Critical thinking is a huge part of atheism. Atheistic thought allows for critical thinking, while religious thought somewhat suppresses it. Religion doesn't allow for critical thinking into science, specifically Biology, and things like quantum mechanics. Religion encourages, nay, REQUIRES, that they simply dismiss everything as god's will, and god created it that way, therefore it is that way. An atheist can learn about whatever topics they want without feeling pressure from a religious body to simply reject something about that topic that scientists have proven again and again, while your parents, church-going peers, and your priesthood completely deny it. Therefore, atheism allows for a much deeper understanding of the natural world, without evoking faith in an ordinary book.

Organizing atheists has often been likened to herding cats. Richard Dawkins has said this many times over the years, and it's very true. One might rationalize this and say that they are impossible to muster simply because they are irreligious. I rather think that this is because atheism allows people to question authority. Authority is not always right (as you may have noticed). Religion suppresses such thought through the institution of churches. Churches are simply brainwashing factories. From a young age, children who go to churches are told, quite simply, "This stuff is true, there is no room for compromise or even a slight shift in belief, (I generalize, I mean to say MOST churches.)

Atheism allows for the disbelief in original sin. Original sin, for those uninitiated, is the biblical story of Adam and Eve. In the garden of Eden, Eve eats the fruit from the only tree in the garden that god expressly prohibits eating from. After this, for whatever reason, god condemns all men to ever live after Adam and Eve. This is the basis for the belief that all humans are sinners and the only way to heaven is submission to the church and baptism. Any rational thinking person can see this is stupid, and any intelligent religious person must see that had they been born anywhere that doesn't recognize your religious belief, then you would probably not subscribe to that philosophy. Your religious is a result of your upbringing. I think very few adults are converting to religion. I know for a fact that zero rational adults are being converted.

Atheism allows people to accepts other people for what and who they are. We don't have to reject a person our friendship and company because of something like their sexual preference. We can rationally judge people based on their character. We examine their personality beyond such shallow labels, and we can embrace everyone without secretly thinking that they are going to go to hell when they die, and without feeling like we have to save them.

Atheism is normal, it is okay to be an atheist. In fact, it is a sign of a healthy, thinking mind. Atheists make full use of all their cognitive facilities and don't have to attribute anything to just being god. It is healthy to question. It is healthy to be allowed to theorize. Without these human accomplishments, science would never get anywhere, and we would never be any the wiser about the origins of Earth and those types of questions. We seek for the real . We want to know what science can tell us, not what an old book can tell us.

.Perhaps we can first establish what it means to be non atheist first, which is someone who believes that there is a God. In this belief they are willing to obey the commandments of God, this means commitments, the giving of ones time, talents and energies for the betterment of mankind. They have a testimony, as confirmed by the Holy Spirit that God does exist, and that His son Jesus the Christ is the God of this earth.

An Atheist gives no such commitments, but is free to do as he pleases. He may perform righteous acts, but has no concept of a life hereafter with his father in heaven because of his works.

.Theists believe in a god or gods, and centre their lives around that principle. Atheists have no beliefs in god(s). This allows atheists to think freely, without being told what to believe by somebody else. They are not subject to dogma, and they do not live in fear of going a a Hell which does not exist. That's about it.

There are good atheists, bad atheists, ones who help others with charity and those who do not. A good way to look at it would be: what is good about not believing in invisible pink unicorns? The is precisely the same: it's a sensible approach to life.

There are atheists who are "bad people" and then there are atheists who are "good people", just like with any population. All atheists are not the same just like all Christians are not the same.

No.

Atheists (the individuals) can be good or bad, just like the religious can be good or bad. Atheism itself is just a world view. Its followers see it as sufficient to their needs and superior to other world views. Its detractors would agree with neither of these positions. This does not make it good or bad, just different.

No, Atheism isn't 'bad'. It depends on the person who is the Atheist, the religious stance doesn't affect their actions. An Atheist an be good or bad, normally Atheism doesn't affect this.

Being an atheist is an acceptable way of running your life - it is good. There is no need for invisible friends to tell you what you should do to be good - you already know. There is no need for a supernatural CCTV peering over your shoulder every second tabbing up your brownie points and demerits to make sure you behave. You can be happy, you can be sad all on your own penny. Best of all there is no need to fear being trapped in a heaven with no free will or a hell with eternal pain - just the blankness of non existence just like those 14 billion years before you were born.

Besides, the company of other atheists like Asimov, Sagan, Dawkins and all is stimulating.

What are Bad articles about atheists?

It is sad that some religious people feel the need to find bad things about atheists. And many of the same people profess to love their enemies! You could look for articles about Adolf Hitler, as some say that he was an atheist, although others say that the overwhelming evidence is that he was a Christian. It is as hard to stereotype atheists as it is to stereotype Christians or people of other faiths: you will find bad things about some atheists, just as you will find bad things about some Christians, Jews, Muslims or Hindus. But look for the good in others and you will find the good in yourself.

Why are Atheists bad?

They aren't, they just don't believe in God. There are many bad people who do believe and do bad things in that belief. Atheists are just people, good, bad, indifferent. You can't say they are bad as a group just for their beliefs or lack of. That is true of any group that is different than the one you are in. Pick any religion, there are good and bad people in any of them.

What do you think of atheists?

This isn't really an opinion service! Atheists are people who don't believe in a god. Plenty of people don't believe, there is no evidence that atheists are better or worse than theists - it's easy to think of evil things done by atheists (Stalin) or theists (911 bombers) just as it's easy to think of good things done by atheists (Churchill, Bob Geldof, Betrand Russell) and theists (Ghandi).Views on atheists differ widely.Among the religious, atheists are many times used a symbol of moral decay of society. To the religious, godlessness is something to be feared. Many people like to equate atheism with the works of brutal dictators and extremist leaders, like Stalin, Mao, Hitler, etc. This being said, there are plenty of religious people who understand that atheists are not evil simply because of their lack of faith. To atheists themselves, the idea that there is no such thing as God is simply a statement of rationality. It often does take courage to admit such a view, as it is not widely held in the United States. Generally, atheists are highly committed to social justice and the welfare of humanity as a whole.
