In chapter 3, Curleys hand was crushed by Lennie when George demands him to fight back. Curley is embarrassed that this happens to him. Carlson offers to say that his hand was "Caught in a machine" if Curley does not get Lennie and George fired by the boss. Curley then agrees to this decision.

Curley is the boss's son on the ranch where the story of "Of Mice and Men" takes place. He is aggressive, insecure, and jealous, often trying to prove his dominance over others. Despite being physically small, he has a quick temper and tries to compensate by picking fights with bigger men.

Curley is a fictional character from a show namedThe Three Stooges. Curley is bald, and he does not have the largest amount of brains. He usually punctuates his sentences by loudly yelling "Nuk nuk nuk nuk nuk!" when he is in pain, startled, or afraid. Otherwise, he makes a sound that closely resembles the sound the Cowardly Lion makes in the popular film The Wizard of Oz.
