What happens if you accidentally inhale a pill?
Several things could happen.You could choke on it until your windpipe snapped the pill or you could cough it back up. Some or all of the pill could stay in your lungs, potentially causing breathing problems. Also, it is possible that the pill/pieces could stay in your lung for much longer than possible in your stomach, due to the lungs' lack of digestive acids. These pieces could potentially lead to infection. OR, none of these things may happen and the pill may sit in your lungs until it dissolves completely from the mucus and water vapor in the air you breathe. Your lungs are not empty air pockets, but densely packed air sacs held together with blood and platelets and wrapped in mucus. If the pill you choked on was an important medication that you must take regularly, call a doctor immediately to find out whether he believes you should take another pill to keep you healthy/safe. If you have chest pains or difficulty breathing, call a doctor or make your way to the ER immediately before things get worse. Even if the pill does not block your airways completely, it could lead to inflammation which could do so. If you have no immediate adverse affects, find someone you can be around for the next few hours in case any new symptoms arise as the pill dissolves. This is an important question that most smokers should actually think a little bit more about.Recently the law has taken steps into this area and made smoking in certain areas illegal, however there are other aspects regarding smoking that smokers really should pay attention to.I do not wish to go into details about ones health. Other web pages explain this adequately.Consider this:A person allergic to smoke. Where can he/she go in order to have a dinner out or a fun time at a discotheque. Even more important, Where can he/she go to work?Most of the smokers do not care about other people with allergies as long as they can light up their cigarettes when-ever and where-ever they want to.Since dawn of day the smokers have been creating the standard of where to smoke. For some, this mean lighting up a cigarette absolutely where ever they are.For most parents with babies, they do not see the problems it causes their offspring's, only the inconvenience for them self if they were to smoke their cigarettes "elsewhere".Inconvenient because they have to get out of their chair or even walking out on the balcony for their cigarette.Some parents have found the "ideal" solution and give their children allergy medicine.Most of those that smoke think of them self loosing out by not being able to smoke their cigarettes whenever they want to.The fact is that a lot of people are dependent on allergy medicine every day because they work in an environment filled with smoke.The solution for better indoor air is simple. Smoking to be allowed only outdoor.The smokers see this as an attack on their personal freedom but do not consider the lack of freedom forced upon everybody that do not smoke, do not wish to smoke, are allergic.Many smokers these day open a door and stand in the opening whilst smoking.. Lets look at this and ask ourselves WHERE do the smoke actually go.Opening of a door in most cases mean that one get fresh air inside. This lowers temperature indoor and air contracts when cooled down. Ergo we have a suction from the house/building and the draft goes inwards together with the smoke.Smokers these days feel discriminated.I ask myself why. The rest of us only want fresh air. That's all.If a person drinks a lot of alcohol, ok. it might smell of booze, but the main problem is for that one single person alone.If a person smokes, then ONE smoke will pollute the air for hundreds of other workers in a company. For us non-smokers, we can really smell one single cigarette being smoked in even a large large hall. The smoke from a cigarette spreads through an entire large house in less than one minute, and it takes ages to air it out.Hmmm. Discrimination yes... A non smoker that want to keep a smoking friend must normally allow him/her to smoke in their home. If not, he/she might not be a friend any more. Who is actually the discriminating party???We non smokers simply want to be able to breath fresh air where we work, where we shop, where we dine, where we live.This does not mean that we discriminate the smokers, we just want to have fresh air and the smokers to understand and respect this.Parents who smoke.Children do not have a choice. Their parents makes sure that their kids do not have a free choice. That is what parenting is about. However nowadays we are wiser as a result of knowing more. We know the downsides and the bad effects of smoking. We know how it can trigger allergic reactions and enlargen already present allergic problems. Still smoking parents forces their offsprings to breathe their choice of air.One aspect here is the child. How does parents smoking make things bad for the child?Not looking at the obvious health issue I will pay heed to the actual smell.The smell sticks to hair, skin, clothes, shoes, schoolbag, books, papers, actually it sticks to everything.As working in a kinder garden I have seen and smelled these children. They come in and other kids ask why they smell so foul. It does not help to change clothes as the smell is also in the "clean" clothes provided by parents.And so. The child goes through entire youth stinking of smoke, and can not do a thing about it.I myself had a mother that at occasions told me that if I could not stand the smoke indoor, then I had to go outside. I spent considerable time outdoor.I was diagnosed with Asthma and Chronic Bronchites and was always having a cold and coughing a lot. Solution was of course medicine. The medicine helped, but it did not take away the real problem.Much of what I have written is of course my own personal feelings and meanings.I am grown up, and not afraid any more to tell people what I feel and mean is right.Many people have told me that they themselves could not stand up to other people the way I do only because they are afraid. It is such a pity that cigarettes are able to control the lives of so many, both the addicts and the rest of us.Smokers do have a choice of where to light it up. The rest of us has until recent enforced laws not had a choice of breathing fresh air.By looking at all of this, you should be able to come to the conclusion that there are not many places at all where you should smoke.This because if you do so, you take away the choice of fresh air for everybody else.I have not tried to make a list of places where people are not supposed to smoke.I have given you the facts of which a lot of peoplesuffer under.Now it is your turn to Decide which places you are not supposed to smoke.
