The denial of the existence in any god or gods.
Atheism is the concept that there is no God, or deity above. It is not, I should clarify, a lack of belief in life after death, which is a common misconception. An atheists does not have to believe in God to believe in life after death. For example, reincarnation does not require a God. After all, a circle has no beginning. So, theoretically, an atheist does not believe that God exists. That's all.

Atheism is the lack of belief in god(s). Although atheism is described in a variety of ways that often depend on the views of the describer, an atheist is a person from whose life a belief in the supernatural is absent. There is no denial of, no failure to recognize and no denouncing of the supernatural contained within the term atheist. At its most basic level atheism is simply the absence of belief in the supernatural. Most atheists have simply looked at the claims of religions and found them to be lacking. Perhaps not so surprising, because religions were mostly founded before modern science.

This is a word that has recently been coined in the Atheist Movement. However, the word is confusing because it refers to two very distinct concepts:

1) It can refer to the movement of people who opposes religion as a general concept, organized religion, and belief in deities or supernatural existence. This is not simply a group of atheists, i.e. people who reject all claims of a supernatural or deities, but is a group of atheists who are pushing against religion.

2) It can refer to people who see the monotheistic God (from Judaism, Christianity, Islam or other similar religions) as a malevolent character. Such a person can be either a theist or an atheist. In the case of a Theist Anti-Theist under this definition, the person is someone who believes that God is real, but is a powerful malevolent bully (like Kim Jong-Un). In the case of an Atheist Anti-Theist under this definition, the person does not believe that God is real in addition to believing the character to be a powerful malevolent bully (like Voldemort).
