The Truth of the matter would be such a shock to modern professing Christianity... if they could bring themselves to "believe" it. But, an antichrist believes God is "three" [a trinity] instead of "two" as the Scriptures reveal:

"...HE IS AN ANTICHRIST, that DENIETH THE FATHER AND THE SON." (I John 2:22)

Jesus reveals to us: " 'I and My Father are one.'" (John 10:30 KJV)

Sometimes it's just as important to notice what the Bible DOESN'T SAY, as much as what it does. In the passage above, notice that Jesus doesn't say: 'I, My Father, and the Holy Spirit are one.'

He reveals that God is TWO! But most professing Christians gloss right over these [and more passages], firm in the teachings they received from their pastors and ministers [not from The Bible] that God is a trinity [three]... not "two;" as Jesus plainly and Truthfully states.

Why doesn't anyone seem to notice that Paul greets the churches in nearly all his letters with the same salutation; not with the "trinity" of God, but with the "DUALITY" of God:

"Grace be unto you, and Peace, from GOD OUR FATHER, and from THE LORD Jesus Christ." (I Cor.1:3)

"Grace be to you and Peace from GOD OUR FATHER, and from THE LORD JESUS CHRIST." (II Cor.1:2)

"Grace be to you and Peace from GOD THE FATHER, and from OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST." (Gal.1:3)

"Grace be to you, and Peace, from GOD OUR FATHER, and from THE LORD JESUS CHRIST." (Eph.1:2)

"To the saints and Faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and Peace, from GOD OUR FATHER and THE LORD JESUS CHRIST." (Col.1:2)

Is anyone picking up on the revelation from God here? Most of the world isn't.

And as John reveals in his letter... an antichrist doesn't get it, either, and doesn't believe in the "duality of God."

Of course, the deceived churches of the world aren't going to give up their beliefs in the "trinity"... even in the face of biblical Truth. But, in spite of it... the Scriptures define an antichrist as one who denies the "duality of God."

Once again; by God's definition: "...He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son." (I John 2:22)

Not: '...the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.'

The "antichrist" doesn't have a particular name, because it is associated with many different people within a system of false religion. When we talk of THE ANTICHRIST who will be worshipped in the end times (see Revelation 13) and will cause the world to take the mark of the beast, then we are talking about a political and religious power, not one person.

Now many people focus on the word "ANTI"-Christ and think that it will be someone who is openly opposed to Christ Jesus. But this is wrong, because if you look at the meaning of the word "anti" in the original Greek, it actually means "in place of". So the meaning of antichrist is not someone who is openly opposed to Jesus, but someone who will be IN PLACE OF Christ on earth. And there is only one religious and political system that has a leader who is regarded as being "in place of" Christ on earth - The Papal Church of Rome.

The Bible, specifically one of John's epistles, points out that there is both one particular antichrist who will appear in history as well as many other people who have an anti-christian spirit. Actually, anyone not "in Christ" or "born again" is anti-christ. Jesus of Nazareth Himself said, "anyone not for me is against Me".

However: the prophecy given to Eve; Daniel's "prince" of the people that would over-run Israel and "cut-off" the Messiah; and the man who strikes a future Israelite leader on the face "with his rod", as well as many other verses; all point to a particular individual who must arise in history to participate in these futute events and carry them out. The armies that come up against Israel in "Armageddon" will have a leader who is clearly "The Antichrist" or "666". Revelation tells us that this person's name can be transliterated in Hebrew from its Roman or Latin format and given a value according to the Hebrew counting system associated with all 22 letters of its alphabet. This system counts one to nine for the first nine letters (aleph to tet), 10 to 90 for the next ten (yod to tzadi) and in hundreds for the last 4 letters (quf resh shin tav or 100, 200, 300 and 400 respectively).

Some people have tried to make up systems making A = 6, B = 12, C = 18 etc or go A = 1, B = 2, C = 3 etc., and derive names like Hitler and Kissinger as equalling "666". But the Biblical system has nothing to do with these silly although somewhat ingenious suggestions.

Currently (2012), there is a young child with a name that means "majesty - King of Kings", assuming he adopts his step-father's surname. But it would be unwise to spell it out in case he does not adopt that name and takes another surname instead or because in the transliteration process into Hebrew there might be a technical error. The Bible describes many circumstances in about 150 or more verses scattered through Scripture surrounding the rise of "The Antichrist", the terrible world leader and head of the world government programme.

Those scriptures must all come (or fulfill) together within a human generation or two either before the antichrist or during his career. For example, only since 1948 has there been a nation of Israel that could sign a covenant with a world leader. Only since 1948 has there been a world crisis concerning Israel and surrounding nations that a super-hero would solve. Only since 1945 has there been anything like a "world government' in place although the post WWI League of Nations was a fore-runner. Only since the last decade has there been the naming of a young child and a marriage to a man who would be the child's step-father as Joseph of Nazareth was to Jesus the true Christ (Messiah) - where the child's first name and putative surname means "majesty king of kings". That in itself is a very improbable development, statistically-speaking, but in the aforementioned background even more improbable and unlikely "statistically". But, that does not confirm this child is "The Antichrist" no matter how statistically appealing it might be. Perhaps, it will only be the seven-year treaty or covenant between an acknowledged 'world leader', perhaps elected by ballot in a democratized world, that completely confirms his identity.

Before that treaty is signed, it may well be pretty obvious who he is to any student of Scripture. It may even be fairly obvious to this particular student even now. Who knows? Perhaps others have stumbled across the above calculations. It would be fair to say the vast majority of people in modern churches no longer believe there is any such particular individual "Antichrist". That would parallel ancient Israel that would not listen to Joshua and Caleb, or even the Israel of Jesus' day when the push came to shove only a small remnant of Israelites believed Jesus of Nazareth was the Messiah. The majority preferred to listen to the official theologians in the Jewish university (Sanhedrin). That parallel situation in today's "churches" might, ironically, be the most important parallel pointing to the arrival on this earth of the particular antichrist whose name will add to 666.

You mean Satan? If so, I think they're only either Lucifer or Satan.

Another Answer:

The Scripture uses the Greek term 'anomos' which literally means 'without law.' Hence he is referred to as 'the lawless one, the man of rebellion, the man of lawlessness. The spirit of the person denies Jesus is the Son of God (1 John 4:3). The Apostle John was also inspired to record this:

1 John 2:22

New International Version (NIV)

22 Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist---denying the Father and the Son.

Many believe that this anti-Christ spirit will culminate in the great and final AntiChrist called in Scripture the False Prophet. He is equated to the Beast of the Earth in Revelation 13 with a false appearance as a lamb which is what Jesus is called and spoke like a dragon which is a reference to Satan.

As Satan is the author of confusion and is out to deceive the whole world, what better way to do so than to usurp the appearance/words of Jesus Himself and cleverly lead all away.
