The study of God.
The word "theology" comes from the Greek words theos, which means "God," and logos, which means "word." So, in the simplest sense, theology is the study of God's word.
it also means the belief or study of one God or many gods
God is living."Now the Babylonians had an idol called Bel, and every day they spent on it twelve bushels of fine flour and forty sheep and fifty gallons of wine. The king revered it and went every day to worship it. But Daniel worshiped his own God and the king said to him, "Why do you not worship Bel?" He answered, "Because I do not revere man-made idols, but the living God, who created heaven and earth and has dominion over all flesh." The king said to him, "Do you not think that Bel is a living God? Do you not see how much he eats and drinks every day?" Then Daniel laughed, and said, "Do not be deceived, O king; for this is but clay inside and brass outside, and it never ate or drank anything." (Daniel Chapter 14) God is Infinite."Moses said to God,'If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?' God said to Moses, 'I AM WHO AM.' And he said, 'Say this to the people of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you'" (Exodus Chapter 3) Living and truth are traits with which we are familiar but infinity does not appear to be a feature of the world in which we live. However in recent times physicists have come up with a theory called Einstein's Theory of Relativity which says that at the speed of light mass become infinite and time stands still. This suggests that light is the physical link between Creation and Infinity and Jesus often referred to the connection between light and Himself e.g. "I have come as light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness" and "The light is with you for a little longer. Walk while you have the light, lest the darkness overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light." (John Chapter 12) God is Truth. Jesus said "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me." (John Chapter 14)
Theology is the study of God and his revelation to humanity. This involves studying not just scripture, but also the thoughts and works of those who have writtenn about God over the years, and whose writings are aso considered inspirationsl, such as the writings of Bede, Karl Barth, Kant, Schliermmacher and many other eminent thelogians.
If theology is studied to a sufficient depth and level then a theology degree can be awarded by an institution such as a theological college or university. This is either a Bachelor degree (BTheol) or a Master's degree or a Doctorate depending upon the level of study. Masters and Doctorates usually involve an element of original thought or research as part of the degree.
Theology is the study of God, His nature and attributes, and His relations with man and the universe.
Christians believe the universe was created by God. Christians believe The Bible was written by God using men to put the words on paper and this bible is how we know God and His Son, Jesus Christ, and how we can inherit eternal life. Many people believe that there is a super power that created the world and that it did not evolve or come into being in any other way. Christians believe that this super power is the God of the Bible.
(The word Theology is used of any study of any possible deity, ie pagan and non-christian beliefs).
The nature of theology is that it is applicable as a science in every religion. Theology has been around since the time of ancient Greece.
