Main Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Escorting patients to and from Theatres in a safe and timely manner.

2. Assisting in moving patients from beds to operating tables pre-operatively

and helping to position patients as requested after anaesthetic and prior to

surgery.

3. Have correct operating table prepared for specialised operation e.g. Hip

replacement including supports clamps etc.

4. Assisting in putting patients back to bed post-operatively.

5. Mopping floors, changing floor bowls, cleaning Theatre equipment e.g.

suction machines between operations.

6. Tidying scrub-up rooms between operating cases.

7. Helping to move special Theatre equipment if required during Theatre list

e.g. x-ray machines including image intensifier.

8. Preparing patients trolleys and cleaning operating tables during lists

9. Cleaning theatre, anaesthetic room, scrub up, prep room and sluice after operating list, including walls, floors and furniture, sinks, lights, doors, etc.

10. Change gas cylinders when necessary and ensure adequate stock maintained.

11. General cleaning within the department e.g. ancillary rooms, changing rooms, coffee rooms, walls, corridors etc.

12. Providing messenger service within department

13. Cleaning and caring in general way of Theatre equipment e.g. operating

lights, x-ray machines, operating tables and table accessories etc.

14. Assisting with putting away laundry, collecting scones etc. and any other duties as required.
