In "11 Birthdays" by Wendy Mass, the main conflict revolves around Amanda and Leo being stuck in a time loop, reliving the same day over and over again. This leads to misunderstandings, broken friendships, and personal growth as they try to break the curse by overcoming their differences and working together.
This book is about best friends Amanda Ellerby and Leo Fitzpatrick. They were born on the exact same day in the exact same hospital, and when by chance, during their first birthday, their party reservations turn out to be in the exact same spot, Leo and Amanda start celebrating every birthday together. Up until their 10th birthday, when Amanda overhears Leo saying that he only hangs out with her because she has no other friends. Amanda gets so upset that she ends up giving Leo the cold shoulder for one entire year. When it's finally Amanda's 11th birthday, it's the first time ever she and Leo will be having separate parties. And with totally messing up her Cheerleading tryouts, it's one of Amanda's worst days ever. Amanda is 100% relieved when the horrible day is finally over. But when her alarm clock beeps the next day, when it's supposed to be Saturday, it's that Friday all over again. It turns out Leo is experiencing this as well, but everybody else is completely oblivious. Amanda and Leo realized that they are both going through the same thing. That's when Amanda and Leo become friends again. Although that is an upside they're still reliving the same day over. They find out that the same thing happened to their great grandparents went through the same thing. A women named Angelina told them that they have to remain talking to each other or else they will relive the same day over and over again. When they were five for their birthday they got a plant. The plant will protect them from this until they are 18. After the curse was gone they remained friends and had promised each other that they will always keep in touch no matter what!
