What is a popular place to visit in Slovenia?

Ljubljana is the most popular city destination. It's really pretty and reminds me of Bern in Switzerland. Great food and great shopping are both readily available!

Lake Bled is extremely popular with tourists. You can swim there, take a boat ride across the lake to Slovenia's one and only island, or you can enjoy a beautiful view of the lake from a castle that is located on top of a cliff overlooking the lake. I went to Bled last summer and I have to say it was one of the highlights of my trip. I think that every weekend in the summer they have a festival that goes on at Bled where they have fireworks, a live band, and FOOD :). IT'S SO FUN!

Another place that I really enjoyed was Triglav National Park, which is where you can find Slovenia's tallest mountain, Triglav (hence the name of the park). It's a great place to take a hike! I went hiking part way up Triglav and the view from up there was breathtaking.

Velika Planina is also pretty cool if your into traditional alpine cheese making...but it's also a nice place for a mountain hike and a traditional Slovenian meal...and beer ;)

Kranjska Gora is a great skiing destination in the Winter, but the scenery there is beautiful in the summer also. It's a fantastic place to go if you like Mountain Biking and, once again, hiking. This is kind of random, but the strudel there was amazing! Best I had in all of Europe!

Postojnska jama and Predjamski grad are also very popular with tourists (they are both huge caves. Postojnska jama is bigger, but I personally enjoyed Predjamski grad more, since the experience just seemed more real (not to mention there were less tourists). Also, Predjamski grad is underneath an old castle which is definitely worth a visit.

Lastly, I think I should mention that white water rafting and canyoning activities are available on the Soca and Sava rivers if you like thrills. Canyoning is better that white water rafting in the summer since the water levels are lower. I went canyoning in the summer and I honestly can't think of anything more thrilling that I have ever done.
