The birth of a new born baby. Being in a bad car accident, looking at the car and wondering how you got out alive. Having a disease that for some reason disappears. Meeting someone you love and have been with them for years and still love each other the same. Nature is a miracle, your family, friends, etc. Each special thing that comes into our lives (at least for me) is a miracle.

A miracle means wonder. It is something that creates a state of awe and wonder in an individual. For example, it could be the wonder that is invoked by the creation or formation of something such as the state of wonder that is produced by birth or it could be the germination of a seed. or the formation of stars and planets. A miracle could be any conceivable thing that produces a state of wonder. Is it not obvious though that that which creates a state of awe and wonder in one person may not do so for another person? If, for instance, a man's wife is about to give birth to his first child and he replies: "Can't it wait five minutes I'm watching the big game on TV. There's one minute to go and my team's down two points!" Clearly it is the case that he does not consider the birth as a miracle.

A miracle has also been defined as: "A marvelous event or a remarkable occurrence that is due to the intervention of a supernatural agency."

If we consider the so-called miracles that occurred in the Christian bible they are indeed remarkable occurrences and events but unfortunately none of them involve the intervention of anything supernatural. I do not say that they did not occur or that they could not have occurred. I say that they did not occur - and indeed they do not occur today - in the way that people seem to believe. People seem to believe that miracles occur because somehow natural law has been suspended or because of the circumvention of natural law. But this is not so. It is only ignorant and superstitious people who would declare such things. It could be someone who was asked and pressed for an answer that would say that.

The miracles in The Bible - such as the miracles of Jesus and similar miracles that are produced today through spiritual mediums- are not produced because of the suspension or circumvention of natural law but because of natural law and because of the operation of natural law. Such miracles are natural phenomena. They are not unnatural or supernatural phenomena. They might be described as supernormal phenomena. They are in fact spiritual phenomena that are due to the power of the spirit (or God) operating through spiritual mediums like Jesus and similar mediums in the world today. Miracles are not produced by mediums but are produced through mediums. If people can learn about natural spirit law and can learn how to attune to the power of the spirit, miracles or spiritual phenomena can be worked through them too. Such miracles can be worked through any person. Miracles are not the province of any church or group nor are they dependent on race, sex, age, religion, socio-economic status, state of health, or education etc.

If you will do a little research you will find that the miracles that were produced in biblical times are produced today in precisely the same manner. If miracles are a product of natural law this must be so because natural law and its expression does not change over time. Just as natural physical laws do not change over time neither do natural spiritual laws change.

If you want to read about healing miracles that rival the healing miracles of Jesus read books written by and about the English spiritual healer, Harry Edwards. Another way to say: Something that happens that we can't explain.

Georgenicol It may be that we cannot provide an explanation for a miracle but that does not mean that an explanation does not exist. As miracles are a function of and are dependent on natural law, every miracle must have an explanation.

Many things that people would declare to be miracles do indeed have an explanation - and indeed while some people know absolutely nothing about them other people know a tremendous amount about them. If say you were to demonstrate the operation of a television set or a computer to people in a lost tribe in the Amazon they would probably declare such things to be miracles. They would have no, and could not possibly have any idea at all how they worked. They wouldn't even be able to guess at how they worked. They may supply an explanation but it would not and could not be a correct one. Yet clearly other people do know a great deal about such machines and how they operate because they were designed and built by human beings. Such machines are designed and built by people who have a good knowledge of science and natural law.

The miracles that occurred in the bible - and which still occur every day in the world today - also have an explanation. Some people actually have knowledge about them and about how to assist in their production. Such people are spiritual scientists who are the equivalent of physical scientists. They are people who do research into and who utilize spirit energy. If anyone would know about miracles and could provide an explanation about them it would be such people. Clearly it is not people who do not research, utilize, or have knowledge about the mechanics of spirit power that can provide explanations. This is only sense I think. It seems to me that when we talk about explanations for 'biblical' miracles that the average person is like an ignorant native of a lost tribe in the Amazon rain forest. This must be so because the average person does not have any knowledge about spirit and the mechanics of spirit power. Like the Amazon natives they may supply an explanation for a miracle but it would not and could not be a correct one. How could they provide a correct explanation? They just do not have the knowledge that would allow them to do so. They may declare that the miracles that were worked through Jesus and through similar mediums today do not have an explanation. They may also declare that: "The Lord works in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform". It may be that the miracles of the spirit are mysterious but this does not mean that an explanation does not exist. Let me tell you that we may think we know a great deal about the universe and about natural physical science but we do not - and indeed we generally know even less about about spirit and spirit law. In my opinion, people know about as much about spirit and the operation of spirit power as ignorant people in the Dark Ages knew about the physical sciences. It is not surprising then that people find it difficult to understand miracles. The statements support the idea that Miracles do not really exist. Theologians who define God as being set apart from natural universe have ruled out the possibilty of any Miracle occuring. The entire theme of the Bible is that God has inervened to bring salvation to man. The scripture goes beyond a simple faith in a heavenly being but presents God as one who moves in a physical way to direct and change the course of human lives.
