Best Answer

The gram is the SI unit for mass, defined as one-twelfth (1/12) of the mass of one mole of atoms of carbon-12 isotope. It was historically defined as, and still accurately related to, the mass of one cubic centimetre of pure water.

The answer above is absolutely not correct and very strange.

In the SI the unit of mass is the kilogram; the international prototype of kilogram is made from the alloy platinum-iridium 10 % stored at BIPM in Saint Cloud, near Paris.

The gram is only a submultiple of kilogram: 1 g = 0,001 kg.

500 grams of flour equals ounce?

500 grams of flour is equivalent to about 17.6 ounces. It's important to note that the conversion factor between grams and ounces can vary depending on the specific ingredient. This is because the density of ingredients can vary, and therefore the weight of 500 grams of a ingredient will be different than 500 grams of other ingredient.
