There are many activities that fall under the control of the registrars office, however, how many depends of the specific college or university. Still, as a general overview some of these responsibilities are as follows.

* Register students for courses each semester * Process assigned grades submitted by faculty * Verify enrollment or all students past and present. * Some registrars organize and handle student records * Some handle class room assignments * Processing official and unofficial transcripts * Processing graduation diplomas * Processing of reports mandated by federal, state, and local agencies
