Many years later the Ammonites were going to attack Israel because they wanted their homeland back. So he sent a message to their king. He told them he story of how the kings of Edom, Moab, Sihon. Then God gave Sihon into Isreals hands and they defeated them. For 300 years Israel occupied Heshbon. The kind of Ammon paid no attention to what the servant had said. He starred to come. Japheth said God let me beat the Ammonites and the next thing that walks through my tent i will sacrifice. God lets the Isrealites win and his daughter (only daughter) was sacrificed. But she went with her friends for two months and cried in the hills.

The story in Judges 11 revolves around Jephthah, a warrior who is asked to lead the Israelites in battle against the Ammonites. Before the battle, Jephthah makes a vow to sacrifice the first thing that comes out of his house when he returns home if he is victorious. Unfortunately, it is his daughter who comes out to greet him, and he must fulfill his vow despite the tragic consequences.

Perhaps Matthew Henry sums it up nicely in his first and last comments of chapter 4:

"Text... The land had rest for eighty years, which should have confirmed them in their religion; but it made them secure, and indulge their lusts. Thus the prosperity of fools destroys them... The Israelites would have prevented much mischief, if they had sooner destroyed the Canaanites, as God commanded and enabled them: but better wise late, and buy wisdom by experience, than never be wise." (Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary; excerpt: Judges, chapter 4)

A summary could be "Israel did not drive out inhabitants". Verses 27-33 state several times "___ did not drive out ___". God told them to drive out all the inhabitants, and they got content or fearful or whatever, and failed to fully obey God.

Matthew Henry says:

"Book Synopsis: - The book of Judges is the history of Israel during the government of the Judges, who were occasional deliverers, raised up by God to rescue Israel from their oppressors, to reform the state religion, and to administer justice to the people. The state of God's people does not appear in this book so prosperous, nor their character so religious, as might have been expected, but there were many believers among them, and the tabernacle services were attended to. The history exemplifies the frequent warnings and predictions of Moses, and should have close attention. The whole is full of important instruction." (Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary: JUDGES)

Judges is perhaps the "bloodiest" book in The Bible. It's an prime example of selfish "rebellious human nature" [with an 'every-man-for-himself' attitude] at work on a national level. A brief history of the tribes of Israel between the turbulent years of entering into the Promised Land under the direct Rule of the invisible God; continuously backsliding, entangling themselves in perilous nation-threatening circumstances, repenting and crying out to God for deliverance -- and receiving it. The last verse of the book says it all:

"In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes." (Judges 21:25)
