Wegenerâ??s Continental Drift theory had been a theory that claimed that layers of Earthâ??s crust slowly shift and drift atop liquid. After divisions had been created due to the movement of Earthâ??s plates, continents had been established. Wilsonâ??s theory had been based on some of the same basic concepts that Wegenerâ??s theory had been based on; however, Wilson also claimed that plates may move over other layers, as opposed to layers only moving away from or closer to other layers, which had also provided support for the cause of volcanic formations.
