Process printing uses "process inks," which are at minimum cyan, magenta, yellow and black, to create other colors. You get green on purpose by mixing cyan and yellow, you get red by mixing magenta and yellow, and you get blue by mixing cyan and magenta.
I put "on purpose" next to green because those of us with color-managed workflows know that if your input and output profiles are not correct, everything you do will turn green no matter what color you tell it to be. But that is a subject for another time.
Now, as to the ink set: Cyan, magenta, yellow and black are the barest minimum process ink set. There are others: we wide-format/grand-format inkjet people use a six-color set with light cyan and light magenta; there's a process called PANTONE Hexachrome that uses a six-color set consisting of black with reflex blue ink mixed into it, a nearly fluorescent yellow, a magenta made from Rhodamine pigment instead of the Rubine pigment most magenta is made from, IIRC the cyan is left alone, then there is a green and an orange added to the set. I heard of another process that used seven inks--cyan, magenta, yellow, black, red, green and blue. Customers didn't want to pay for the new processes, printers wouldn't install them before the need arose...
