Depo-Provera is another form of Birth Control. It has a 99% chance of working, and comes in an easier form to take it. Its just a shot! Yep, that's it! You get a Shot once every three months and viola! Your on Birth Control that you don't have to remember to take Everyday. Just once every three months. Not recommened for use over two years due to the fact it lowers the calcium in your bones, so calcium should be taken with the shot. Also, It takes about a week and a half to take full affect and about 10 to 11 months after you get off the Depo for your period to regain normalcy and for you be able to get pregnant again.
Depo Provera (also known as DMPA or Depot Medroxyprogesterone Acetate) is a hormone injection that lasts for 3 months to prevent pregnancy. The injection contains synthetic progesterone and no estrogen. It is usually given in the the arm, hip, upper thigh, or abdomen, delivering a high level of progesterone into the body. Depo Provera stops the ovaries from releasing eggs. Depo Provera causes the cervical mucus to thicken and changes the uterine lining, making it harder for sperm to enter or survive in the uterus. These changes prevent fertilization.
