Artemis was both the goddess of the Wild and the Hunt, she had many nymph and mortal girl companions, and sometimes a favored hunter or hero beside her. Artemis played many parts in myths both well known and not. She was the older twin sister of Apollo, and daughter of Zeus and Leto.

Artemis was fierce huntress goddess who was the protector of animals and virgins. She was also the twin sister of Apollo. Artemis wasn't too fond of men and was known to be very spiteful towards one or two. For example one hunter spied upon her while she was bathing. She turned him into a stag and he was attacked by his own hunting dogs.

Artemis's mother was a nymph. Artemis and Apollo were the illegitimate children of Zeus and when their mother went into labor, Hera wouldn't let anyone help out of jealousy. So, after Artemis was born, she helped her mother deliver her twin brother, Apollo.
