Andrew's Raiders, also known as the Andrews' Raiders or the Mitchel Raiders, were a group of Union Army volunteers led by James J. Andrews during the American Civil War. They conducted a daring raid in April 1862, known as the Great Locomotive Chase, in an attempt to disrupt Confederate supply lines by stealing a locomotive and cutting telegraph wires. The raid was ultimately unsuccessful, and most of the raiders were captured and executed as spies.
