Diego Rivera (1886-1956) was one of two twin brothers, but his brother Carlos died at the age of two; Diego began drawing at the age of three, one year after the death of his twin brother. His parents caught him drawing on the walls of his house, but instead of punishing him, they installed chalkboards and canvases on the walls, cementing his career as a painter and muralist.
