Is poison ivy worse in summer or winter?

Of course it does not have enough light or heat to survive,it usually dies off the first frost.Yes this guy is correct but not really. The plant dies but the oil in the plant "Urushiol" that gives people the rash stays active on any surface, including dead plants, for up to 5 years. So even if the plant dies the urushiol oils are still there on the plant and anything else that plant touched to give you the rash. So the plant does die in the winter but not the oil in the plant stays active

Is poison ivy contagious?

Poison Ivy is not contagious. It cannot be spread from person to person. It spreads by the oils from the plant. If you do not clean your skin well after contact or if you come into contact with clothes, garden tools, etc. that still have the oil on them, you can break out in other places. Even a weeping rash will not spread the rash to other places of your body, as long as you have cleaned your skin thoroughly after contact with the plant's oils. Sometimes the poison ivy appears to be spreading, because it first appears in a small area then appears in more areas over time. But it is not actually spreading, it just takes awhile for your entire body to react. The first time you get it, it takes longest for your body to react. Each time after that will take less and less time between exposure and reaction. The oil can stay active on clothes, garden tools, dead plants, etc. for up to five years.

Can you get hives from penicillin?

Type your answer here... Yes you can get hives if you are allergic to penicillin. Usually, hives are what happens the first time a person displays an allergic reaction to penicillin. The next time a person takes penicillin, the reaction escalates past hives to a much more serious reaction involving difficulty breathing (airways restrict). A penicillin allergic reaction can cause death. People who are allergic to penicillin should wear a medical bracelet or necklace that clearly identifies their allergy.

Can a poison ivy rash come out more with sun exposure?

I don't know about sun exposure, but I do know how poison ivy works, which may help. When an allergic person comes in contact with the powders or oils of the plant, he/she begins to have a reaction. As long as the oil or powder remains on the skin, the rash can spread and worsen. Upon exposure or possible exposure to the plant, the allergic person should shower with soap and hot water to be sure all oils/powders are gone. Then, the healing process can begin, which takes about 7-10 days. If the affected person has showered thoroughly, I would imagine the already sensitive rash is not responding well to heat or sunburn, hense the worsening of symptoms. Get out of the sun!
