Not an easy question to answer, as people are not agreed on when it started, it is subjective as to who started it.What is important to know is that the ideas behind the Holocaust and the ultimate responsibility lies with Hitler.
Why did the nazi want to eliminate undesirable groups?
They wanted to kill them because they thought the Aryans were more superior than anyone else. They also thought that Germany only belonged to them and that nobody else should live there. They also thought that a lot of the people they had killed were a drain on society or a danger to it. Mengela's cruel experiments were really done to try to discover ways to repopulate Germany with Aryans faster.
