What is girth weld?

circumfrencial weld is sometimes referred to as Girth weld. its just another term.

The two types of welds are?

TIG uses tungsten in a gun and electricity to melt the material, the user must manually add filler rod. Needs shielding gas Mig uses a gun, but the filler rod flows out of the gun. Electricity flows from tip of wire into material. needs shielding gas except with flux-cored wire. SMAW uses pre fluxed electrodes. electricity flows trough electrode holder, into material when material is scraped by electrode. No shielding gas. Oxy-fuel. Flame welding. Oxygen and a fuel (acetylene, propane, mapp, etc.) are mixed in a torch, ignited, and used to melt material. filler wire is manually added. There are more indepth explanations, and advanced machines, but that is the basics.

What is a tky weld joint?

TKY weld joints are tubular joints used for welding. They are expressly used for when fabrication of a structure is necessary.

Can you gas weld with propylene gas?

Yes, but it will take years for the base metal to get hot enough for any fusion welding.

Is a flare groove weld considered a partial penetration weld?

Without knowing exactly which Code or industry this applies to, I'll give it a shot using AWS D1.1 standards. The standard flare-groove detail is P10 indicating that it is a PJP (partial joint penetration) weld. If a weld size is not indicated, it is assumed it is a full thickness weld and I believe this is where the confusion comes in. It's a partial penetration with full thickness and that's where the argument starts. This weld could be used as a full penetration weld (and held to that testing criteria) but the detailer must be specific about the intentions, particularly if it is used in a critical joint.

What is the purpose of a gas shield use with GTAW?

GTAW is commonly used to weld thin slections of stainless steel and non-ferrous metals luike aluminum, magnesium and copper alloys. The gas shield is never removed to prevent oxidation of its surface and contamination of the weld.

What are aluminum arc brazing electrodes used for?

They are used for repairing things made of aluminum. What is needed is a heat source from gas such as propane gas, mapp gas or oxy-acetylene gas. This method makes for stronger welds than conventional Tig welding. It works on aluminum and cast aluminum, pot metal, copper, magnesium and white or porous metals. One of the main benefits of using aluminum arc brazing is that it can be used to weld and repair metal structures and things that are difficult to work on with more conventional welding methods. This includes corroded parts and also areas that have come in contact with oil and fat that make the area difficult to work on using the older methods of aluminum welding rods. The weld produced is stronger and the work quicker using aluminum arc brazing.

Can jb weld be used to fix a crack on an aluminum rim?

No . . . that would be extremely dangerous.

Can you use JB Weld on aluminum?

Yes. I've used it on aluminum as a permanent repair. I'd recommend prepping the surface thoroughly.

Why is aluminium hard to weld when exposed to air?

Aluminum is not only hard to weld when exposed to atmospheric air, it is impossible. All aluminum arc welding processes must be shielded from the air. Gmaw (mig) and gtaw (tig) used sheilding gasses such as pure argon or argon mixed with co2 or helium depending on the application. Smaw (stick) process uses a flux to shield the weld. Aluminum is very reactive making it one of the hardest materials to weld. The cleaner the aluminum is the better it will weld. Aluminum must be free of anything that produces hydrocarbons when heated, such as paint, oil and lubricants. Aluminum must be clean and well shielded from the air to achieve a quality weld.

What it the welder called that can weld aluminum?

can weld aluminium with a mig or tig welder

How do you use your portable welder to weld aluminum?

the only way you can weld aluminum is with AC current and high freak setting on the welder , if your welder does not have theses setting then it will not weld aluminum. Good answer! AC is a must! The only other way is if you have an oxy/ace setup (very low psi) or alot of mapp gas, but you have to spread a flux paste on the material (looks like drywall mud) EXTREMELY MESSY!

Can you weld cast aluminum on cars?

Yes.

Will argon gas help to weld mild steel?

It can be used for that purpose.

Why argon is used in welding the recycling companys workbenches?

Argon is used as a shielding gas. By flooding the are of the weld with Argon, Oxygen is kept away from the molten metal of the weld.

Can aluminum be used in sour gas service?
